has anyone used a fish tank to make an outdoor pond?

I want to make a small toad pond for my garden in Phoenix AZ. I was considering burying a regular fish tank (30Gal) in the shade with a pump for recirculation and have my irrigation system pump new water into it a couple times a week. Do you think it will work?

yes, but beware of shear drops anything going in cannot get out. get a small piece of pond liner, it’s cheap and you can shape it as you wish
