BEST GARDENING SHEARS
How do I get rid of the Ivy off my fence?

At the back of our garden, we have a fence with Ivy growing on it. It’s dull and discoloured, and we want to get rid of it.
But we don’t know how to. We’ve tried using garden shears but it didn’t work.

Whats the best way to kill it or get rid of it for good?
Thanks! :)

Ivy looks great on fences, but it does deteriorate them. You can put some Roundup weed killer on it at the base of the fence and that should do it. I have done environmentally unfriendly stuff like putting gas or oil on the line, but that can get into the water supply. Might still have to cut the vine at the base and pull it out while it is still green, but the roundup should help kill it at the base. You may have to put it down more than once. You can get it out of there and there are flowers that do well on fences. Roses and several other kinds of vines do well but also so do wihte flowers. Once you turn over the dirt well, you may negate the weed killer and have to in order to plant other things. Don’t do Honeysuckle as it takes over and has a more woody base vine and is really hard to remove.

Good luck.
