need natural weed killer?

I want to use something that is natural and that is pet safe. Im going to be making a butterfly garden and the area im going to be putting it in has many weeds and other plants that i want gone. also how long do i have to wait til i can plant the flowers i want so that what i use doesn’t kill the new flowers

We’ve found that regular household vinegar, as well as boiling water, will kill anything its poured on that’s growing. Both are natural and won’t hurt the soil. However, salt will also damage any new plants if it remains in the soil.
