Good friendship plant?

I am giving a friendship gift to a good friend of mine. She is very much into gardening. What would be a great plant to give her for her new outside garden?

It depends on many things, you do not mention what zone you are in. Be sure whatever you purchase will be winter hardy in her area. Personally I have given several flowering trees and if they are too expensive then a flowering shrub like a Rhododendron is great or personally I love lilacs but not sure what area you are in. An Anthony B. Waterer Spirea is great and blooms for a long time. Since we do not know how much sun it will get may I suggest you gather all that information and go to a nursery and make your selection from what they can tell you about the different things that grow in the area. She will love whatever you give her and how lucky is she to have you as a friend.
