is new orleans safe to run in warehouse or garden district at night around 8-9 pm?

I am female and am concerned about safety while running…I’m not a fast runner!

Your safest option is to be around people on foot at that time (or any other). The people that I know who have been the victim of armed robbery in the Warehouse District or Garden District are typically walking down a street where they are the only individual–or are in a single group travelling together where a criminal can control the situation.

You may want to run up St. Charles into the Garden District down the streetcar line or run toward Riverwalk and into the Quarter. Be careful what streets you go down in the CBD, that place empties out after 6pm.

But realistically the safest option is to drive to Audubon Park or neighborhoods past Jefferson (or at least Napoleon) if you want to run late at night.
