GARDENING SUPPLIES GARDENING EQUIPMENT
Disinfectant for reptiles?

Obviously we all want what is the best for our pets. My tortoise table is becoming smelly and is time for a clean and is made out of solid pine. After a recent trip up to the garden centre they have told me that the Johnsons Veterinary Clean ‘n’ safe is safe to use on my tortoise table and equipment. On the bottle it says for use with small animals e.g Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Gerbils, Rats, Mice, Ferrets, Chinchillas etc. I am not going to use this on my tortoise table just yet I want some more opinions first! Here is a ebay link of the exact bottle I have . http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JOHNSONS-CLEAN-N-SAFE-SMALL-ANIMAL-CAGE-CLEANER_W0QQitemZ260367047912QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Pet_Supplies_Small_Animals?hash=item260367047912&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318

Hiya !

There’s only TWO products I’ve ever used in all my reptile-keeping years:- EITHER a product called “Betadine” — which you can get from veterinary practices or specialist pet shops. Just follow the directions on the label.

OR “Milton” sterilising fluid (the stuff you use to disinfect baby bottles with) – Mix one cap to a gallon of water.

I always try to have Betadine wherever possible – but have a small bottle of Milton for emergencies !
