GARDENING SOUTHWEST

where in puerto rico can i stay for $400.00 per month for housing?
i would like to stay south and southeast or southwest. i want to move there on my retirement pension, my wife and i are interested in fishing, gardening, and perhaps raising chickens. quiet , laid back.
Best thing to do is look in the country areas, rather than the actual town. This is my personal story, my family and I live in Yabucoa barrio Martorell and we pay $300 a month for a 3 bedroom house, 10 mins from beach, and we have a decent size yard. We actually have one chicken right now and 5 dogs, not planning on keeping all the dogs, one of our dogs had 3 puppies. It can be done.
The only thing is that looking online for a cheaper house to rent is not that easy, it is possible but not that easy. The best thing to do is to drive around and look for “For Rent” signs. I really like Yabucoa because it is not far from Humacao where Wal-Mart and other stores are at. Also it takes us about 20 mins to get to Caguas and 40 mins from San Juan (without major traffic).
But like someone else suggested, I also suggest clasificadosonline.com. You can search for a certain dollar amount, the only problem is when people don’t put a certain amount those will show up and they might not be in your price range. I love living in PR!!
