GARDENING RHUBARB CARE
lawn care and prevention?

Where i live we not only have ants but also european fire ants.
My first question: I heard some where that tobacco keeps ants from attacking plants and stuff is this true? I grow vegies and stuff in my garden and the ants allways chew up the crop(the raishes and rhubarb esp) I’m kinda iffy about the idea of putting ciggs in my garden so is there a all natural fix? Second: I remember when i could walk bare foot in the back yard not anymore… Those stingin ants are all over the place… What stops them cold? Think texan ants (fire) but smaller they still pack a punch.
No solution is right for every problem. I am very iffy about using toxic stuff.I live near the only national park on the east coast and so dumpin stuff could get me in hot water with the feds. i’m stuck between a rock and hard place because i’m a farmer who grows and sells produce to help my family and community so……

Most of the products I buy will work. The key is to use them often. Many people wait until the ants come and then try to rid them. You can use a Ortho or Spectricide (or any major brand) and put it out until they’re gone. Then continue occasionally to ensure they don’t return.
