How do I calculate the amount of tile I need (per color) for a mosaic project?
I am making several large mosaic circles (on cement) (smallest is 17′ diameter, largest 24′ )and I am using specific designs. These designs are colorful and consist of shapes and numbers. They are going to go in an art garden for children to play on. For example – One circle will have a red hopscotch within it surrounded by green semi-circles. I do not know how to figure out curves. I know how to do square/retangle areas (L x W) but the curves and detail are confusing. I have to pre-order all this tile an I do not want to order to much or way to little. Can anyone suggest how i can go about this? I have read on here about the software CAD. I have never used that but it I can download the designs and it tells me the sq footage needed I would use that…
Thanks to all who can help!!
Forget CAD, establish the full pattern that repeats. Lay out the pattern, count each shape/color and then multiply times the number it repeats.
