GARDENING DECORATIVE STONE
math word problem!?

kinu wants to plant a garden and surround it with decorative stones. she has enough stones to enclose a rectangular garden w/ a perimeter of 68 ft, but she wants the garden to cover no more that 240 sq. ft. What could the width of her garden be? please dont jst gimme the answers but please gimme step to step directions on how to do it! thank u so much. if i get this question, i m offerred a scholarship into Yale so plz help.

l = length
w = width
P = 2l + 2w = 68
So 2l = 68 – 2w
Or l = 34 – w

However, A = w*l,
so A = w(34-w)
Then w(34-w) is less than or equal to 240.

Solve for possible values of w, and then go back to find the corresponding lengths.

I hope this helps!
