FLOWER GARDENING ZONES
I live in detroit, michigan and wanted to know what zone am I in as ar as gardening and planting flowers?

I have lots o sun in my front yard barely no shade at all.I dont have a green thumb and needed suggestions on what to plant. I love colors and would pefer perenials but I also need to know what annuals do you suggest I plant.Dont forget I have plenty o sun too much if you ask me

You can look up your hardiness zone on the newest map. Simply enter your zip code. http://www.arborday.org/treeinfo/zonelookup.cfm I’m 48383 which is one of three small zone five areas in southeastern Michigan.

Note the 10 free trees link on the left hand menu.

Most plants prefer full sun. I believe this Saturday is the annual flower sale at Eastern Market. http://www.easternmarket.org/ If you can’t make it there, most of the local home and garden centers will also have sales. I prefer English Gardens at Ford Rd and Outer Drive or any of the Randazzo locations will have plants at a discount.
