DISH GARDENING PLANTING
The proper use of clay pots when planting indoor plants?

I had a dish garden (with 2 plants) that is several years old and needed to be seperated. I had some larger clay pots, so I placed each plant in an unlined clay pot. I watered them and the pots smelled very strongly – is that normal?

Also, do you think it’s ok that I used clay pots for them without having a plastic liner?

Thanks in advance for the help! :-)

When I’m potting I always make sure there’s holes in the bottom for drainage, then i layer the bottom with stones, then soil. They could be smelling because there’s not enough drainage and theyre becoming water logged.
