CONTAINER GARDENING LAVENDER

What can I put in my container?
I have an approx. 60cm diameter container outside my front door, which is in full sun all day long – a lot of things I put in there perish!
I’ve had a cordyline and some ivy in there for the past year; I’ve just had to transplant the former into a pot in my back garden as it is half the size of one planted out there that I bought at the same time.
There is also a strong smell of fox as I walk out of the door some mornings, I have had my suspicions that they may be spraying my container, but I’m not sure!
Is there a small, readily available shrub (preferably with a nice scent!!) that I could plant? I did think of lavender but am concerned about the bees outside the front door!
Many thanks.
I forgot to mention I am in the South East UK…
I’m also intrigued about the anti-fox sprays and will look into those…. hopefully I can spray it on my car because they like that as well. It stinks!!! lol
You could do lavender (not too long of a flowering season) and rosemary. Rosemary by itself will get pretty large and can tolerate full sun. I just planted some carex grass and a blue fescue with verbena and delphiniums and lavender. I would go for rosemary. It’s the easiest. Buy a more mature plant from a nursery because it grows fairly slow.
