BOOK REVIEWS GARDENING

IF THE FIRST SECTION OF HARRY POTTER 1 WERE POSTED ON THIS SITE DO YOU THINK IT WOULD HAVE GOTTEN GOOD REVIEWS?
(Posted before it came out)
I don’t and it’s my favourite book.
Mr. and Mrs. Dursley, of number four, Privet Drive, were proud to say that they were
perfectly normal, thank you very much. They were the last people you’d expect to be
involved in anything strange or mysterious, because they just didn’t hold with such
nonsense.
Mr. Dursley was the director of a firm called Grunnings, which made drills. He was a
big, beefy man with hardly any neck, although he did have a very large mustache. Mrs.
Dursley was thin and blonde and had nearly twice the usual amount of neck, which came in very useful as she spent so much of her time craning over garden fences, spying on the neighbors. The Dursleys had a small son called Dudley and in their opinion there was no
finer boy anywhere.
No way, people here would have been like “you’re telling too much, not showing” and “It needs to begin with action” and other things that novice writers have picked up on and use to critique writing on here.
Someone posted the beginnings of actual published books on here (forget who… one of my contacts) and he/she asked “is this publish-ready?” and got a ton of responses of “no!” even though the books were actually published books and I think one was even an award-winning book. A few of the answerers said they liked the story okay, but all said “no, not publish ready.”
Reviewers here on Y!A are not experts by any means. So no, I doubt that the beginning of Harry Potter would have gotten great reviews at all if people didn’t know what it was.
