passive and active voice questions help?
Read each sentence. If it is in the active voice, rewrite it using the passive voice. If it is in the passive voice, rewrite it in the active voice.

OK, two things you need to look out for:
- the subject (the one doing the action)
- the direct object (the thing that is being acted upon)
When the sentence starts with the subject, it is active, when it starts with the direct object, it is passive.
1. The students attended a concert in the city. (this is active, the students did what? They attended a concert)
A concert in the city was attended by the students. (this is passive, what was attended by the students?)
2. Six medals were earned by the members of the swim team. (this is passive, what was earned by the swim team?)
The members of the swim team earned six medals. (this is active, the swim team earned what?)
3. Twelve songs were performed by the band at the festival. (this is passive, what was performed by the band?)
The band performed twelve songs at the festival. (this is active, the band performed what?)
4. Matthew ate three hot dogs at the ballpark. (this is active, Matthew ate what?)
Three hot dogs were eaten by Matthew at the ballpark. (this is passive, what was eaten by Matthew at the ballpark?)
You should be able to do the rest by yourself, now that you have the hang of it.
